It was a week to rejoice for all three of the One Ball ZA gang as Arsenal cruised past Bournemouth with a 3-0 away victory, sending them top of the log and the only team with a 100% record. Newcastle failed to hold on to a 2-goal lead at St Jame’s Park with Man City striking twice in quick succession to draw 3-3 while on Sunday, everyone was shocked as Manchester United stunned Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.
We all got our predictions horribly wrong this week with Woody and ChippyBoy picking up just two points apiece and funny how they both predicted Spurs beating Wolves and Arsenal beating Bournemouth.
I was not much better to be honest, with me grabbing 9 points from this week’s effort. My bonus was picking Palace to beat Villa while ChippyBoy predicted a draw and Woody going for a Villa win – what does he know?
But the biggest satisfaction was when Everton scored late in their home game against Nottingham Forest to secure a 1-1 draw, a prediction I got spot on to grab 5 points. I also picked correctly in the West Ham vs Brighton match in which I chose Brighton to win, and that they duly did while Woody went for a draw and Chippy went for a Hammers victory.
Woody stated, “I’m just giving you okes time to catch up!” Snarky from the oke that never works! Woody’s first round predictions (second game week because we started late) gave him a nice jump start, but we’ll fight back.
Do we even have to mention the Fantasy Premier League in this post? I suppose…
I dropped 12 points this week in trying to shake things up – well it didn’t work. Ready to Partey moved back to the top of the log with a haul of 54 points while Crouch Potatoes consistency moved him up to second, after hauls of 69, 66 and 63 in the respective game weeks. Arabian Knights and Winhill United both had shockers, picking up 39 and 37 points respectively to drop to third and fourth.
Me, well, I am stone last I tell you and I feel the way Mikel Arteta and Arsenal did after three games last season. I managed 47 points in the game week, which was fifth-best of the game week. Onwards and upwards as ChippyBoy would say.
This weekend’s games have some juicy ties lined up with the pick of the games being Chelsea against Leicester at Stamford Bridge. Tomas Tuchel’s spat with Antonio Conte has made the match against Leicester intriguing, considering Chelsea were thumped 3-0 by Leeds and Leicester lost at home to Southampton 2-1.
Arsenal will be looking to consolidate their spot at the top of the table when they host Fulham at the Emirates, even though Woody thinks it will be a stalemate while Manchester United will be looking to build on their morale-boosting win over Liverpool when they travel to St Mary’s to face Southampton in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Newcastle face an easy trip to Wolves on Sunday while Sours – I mean Spurs – round off the weekend with a trip to Forest.
So here is hoping for an Arsenal triumph – not often I have been able to say that four weeks in a row, and for a decent FPL game week – I seriously need the points. If Newcastle fail to overcome Wolves, then ChippyBoy and I are going to have a field day with his “form book” always being thrown at us.
Was United’s win against Liverpool a fluke – well, when I saw Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo both on the bench, I said United would win. I think Ten Hag must stick with that formula.
