Liverpool might have faltered against Manchester United last week but came storming back with Bournemouth feeling the full-force of the Merseyside tsunami as Jurgen Klopp’s side put nine in the back of the net.

Erik ten Hag’s side proved that their valiant victory over Liverpool last week was no flash in the pan as they overcame a plucky Southampton 1-0 at St Mary’s on the South-West of England.

Arsenal maintained their 100% start to the Premier League with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over London rivals Fulham at the Emirates, remaining the only side with maximum points after the first four rounds.

Newcastle had to fight back against Wolves, who took the lead through a wonderful strike from Ruben Neves from outside the box, but Allan Saint-Maximim’s stunning right-footed 90th minutes strike into the top corner gave Eddie Howe’s men a valuable point at Molineux.

So how did all our predictions turn out? Well, it was closely fought between ChippyBoy and myself, with Mr Runnalls scoring 15 points to my 14 while Woody lumbered behind on 10 points.

Chippy got one spot-on result, calling the 1-0 win for Brighton over Leeds correctly while I managed two this week, Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Leicester as well as Spur’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Chippy though managed two right results with the correct goal-difference, calling Man United’s win over Southampton and Chelsea’s win over Leicester while Woody also called the United result and that of Spurs.

We have two juicy fixtures lined up, with Leicester hosting Manchester United and Newcastle travelling to Liverpool. We’ve all picked Liverpool to beat Newcastle with Woody the only one not believing his side can score while ChippyBoy is the only one who thinks that Leicester cannot score against Utd, although Woody believes that Leicester will pull off a draw.

Other intriguing match-ups sees a London derby between under pressure West Ham against third-placed Spurs while high-flying Leeds host struggling Everton. Can Wolves pick up their first win of the season against shell-shocked Bournemouth? Both Woody and I believe so. Can Brighton maintain their unbeaten run when they take on Fulham on the Thames?

Despite me dropping 12 points and wringing the changes, I flopped once again in the Fantasy Premier League. But a special mention must go out to Paddy and Grant as they both just missed out on cracking a 100-point game week. Paddy (93) and Grant (96) were top class while Woody bagged 81 points.

The only thing I have been consistent at is being consistent at being crap, hauling three consecutive 40-50 point game weeks. But this week I used my Wildcard (ChippyBoy will be saying “too soon my son, too soon!”) To hell with it. Go big or go home I say. I am hoping to make up some ground on the rest as I am the only poor sod who still sits below the 200-point mark.

Be that as it may, I may be bottom of the FPL log but at least Arsenal are making up for my poor form having won four from four and sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League standings.
